Cooling is usually the biggest part of a summer electricity bill in Qatar. The good news is that a few simple changes can reduce it without sacrificing comfort.
Set a sensible temperature
Every degree lower makes the AC work harder. A setting around 24 degrees is comfortable for most people and saves power.
Keep filters clean
Clogged filters block airflow and force the compressor to run longer. Clean them every few weeks during heavy use.
Block the heat
Curtains, window film and door seals keep hot air out. Close doors of rooms you do not use.
Service regularly
A well-maintained AC uses noticeably less power than a neglected one. Regular servicing is one of the cheapest ways to save money.
